Robotic C-Channel Welding

Industrial robots as part of the robotic solution provide fully automatic production of industrial storage rack beams in dynamic mode.

The solution is comprised of three industrial robots; Material Handling and Welding.

Inverted Robot No. 1 provides automatic orientation and loading of the C-Channel using pneumatic equipment and placed in the center of a servo controlled welding table with robots at both ends. A red line laser scans each C-channel prior to loading to check cut angle offsets and tolerances and the system either accepts or rejects the piece. 

Robots No. 2 and No. 3 are equipped with magnetic grippers to pick up clips, places them onto a welding block, and subsequently weld the clips to the C-Channel beam. The beam is ejected using a pneumatic flipper down an exit slide where an operator removes the part. 

For full automation at all stages, an automatic system for feeding and unloading rack beams has been designed. The solution is highly suitable and customizable for industrial pallet rack manufacturers.
